51st Reunion WMCHS Class of 1970

Most people drive straight up to the Mackinac Bridge and cross the Straits of Mackinac to get to the Upper Peninsula. We took a more leisurely approach.

Now, we had already planned on spending a couple of nights in Rothbury, MI, in order to attend Susie’s (postponed) 50th High School reunion. And since Rothbury is only a 30-minute drive to Ludington, Michigan, home of the SS Badger, the car ferry across Lake Michigan to Wisconsin, we opted to sail across the Big Lake to Manitowoc. And so we did.

We left home late Friday afternoon and after a 75-mile drive pulled into the Double JJ Ranch outside of Rothbury. We opted to stay at the Double JJ where the reunion event took place and will say it was one of the least pleasant lodging experiences. Enough said about that.

The reunion kicked off Friday evening with cocktails followed by outdoor dining. Susie and I had a few daytime adventures (coming up in the next post) on our own on Saturday until everyone met up again for the evening dinner and program. The reunion seemed quite a success. Lots of smiles, lots of people catching up and sharing stories from high school days and, of course, what has happened since.

Following are pictures from both events for those of you most familiar with the West Michigan Christian High School Class of 1970.

Oh, and there's a group photo at the end. I'll be posting a high-resolution copy for download along with captions later.
