There's snow Mini like our Mini

We took a deep breath and pulled out of Dick and Dorothy's house in Douglas, MA, about 9 a.m. on a overcast, chilly Wednesday morning. As we neared the Vermont-Massachusetts state line on I-91 it began to rain and the temperature began to fall accordingly -- and sure enough by the time we got to our exit at Rockingham there was wet snow swirling in the air.

The weather held steady until we got near Ludlow in the Green Mountains when the road became increasingly covered with wet slush, then ice and slush and then slushy snow and ice and, well I think by now you've gotten the picture. The Mini held the road just fine, although without chains or snow tires she did tend to weave a bit in the slush.

North of Ludlow traffic slowed to a crawl up the mountains through the Mount Holly flats and didn't change significantly until we neared Rutland. By that time the roads were just wet, although wet snow continued to fall. Of course things would change overnight as we would soon discover.

The next morning we awoke to a half foot or so in Rutland (see photo above) -- friends living up in the wilds of nearby Chittenden received a healthy foot and more.

So the first road trip in the new Mini was a healthy test indeed. She passed with flying colors.
