Last Saturday evening there was a small gathering of various members of the Van Halsema clan at my mother-in-law's condo in Grand Rapids.
I picked up brother-in-law Carl at the airport about 4pm and the two of us drove to Rockford to pick up Uncle John and Aunt Marian. The four of us then headed back south to Eaglecrest and dinner at Bernice's condo. Not long after we parked the car, Clark VH along with his mother Thea and Aunt Betsey arrived; they were soon followed by Brenda (who stayed with us), her mother Fran and Fran's sister Gladys and Gladys' son Bradley. Brenda and her mother had spent the afternoon exploring Artprize downtown and were ready for a little downtime.
A nice evening of chit-chat, catching up on all the latest news from family members scattered around the country with a little family history. While Susie, Carl and I sat in the living room to eat, everyone else sat around a table of mom's delicious spaghetti casserole and slaw with Susie's homemade provolone bread, finished off with a pear custard for dessert, also compliments of the French Tarte,
naturalmente!
