OK so we won't be "seein' the USA in a Chevrolet" but it will be in a Subaru and it will be a large chunk of this country.
It's been a dozen years since we've taken a serious road trip in the United States, and frankly, what we have planned for the next couple of weeks we've never attempted before. Sixteen days, some 3800 plus miles, visiting old friends, family and paying our respects to some folks long gone but who gave the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the union.
Monday we head off to visit family in St. Louis, then it's an overnight in Little Rock, AR before making our way to Natchitoches, LA for a couple of nights with an old Navy buddy and his wife (that's a story believe me).
From there we head off to Vicksburg, MS, Corinth, MS and Shiloh Battlefield, then to Knoxville, TN, Asheville, NC and to Roanoke, VA to visit old friends and rekindle old memories.
From there we head to Gettysburg, PA, and if you have to ask why, you've got some history to catch up on.
From there we drive to Corning, NY. to replay our wonderful experience from last year and meet up with Dick and Dorothy!
The four of us then cruise up along the shore of Seneca Lake to I-90 and make our way to Watertown, NY where we plan to end our trip visiting family and helping Glen MacDonald celebrate his change of command and Tiner celebrate her 40th birthday.
And then back to Grand Rapids through Ontario, the Canadian part. . . .
Stay tuned!
